Nothing Can Separate Us From the Love of God
Well, thank you, family. It’s good to see you. It’s good to be, as the old folks used to say, in the house of the Lord one more time.
You know, I’m just grateful — grateful that I can move, grateful that I can get up out of my chair without a pain, grateful for life. I’ve been learning to be more and more thankful for what God is doing in my life. I like to call it lifing. Life is life — but I’m so glad I don’t have to do it alone, because Jesus is life. When I say I’m lifing, I’m saying I’m doing Jesus.
All Things Work Together for Good
Let’s turn to Romans 8:28–39 — a passage that just keeps calling me back. Paul says:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
I love this. Because if you keep reading, Paul reminds us:
“If God is for us, who can be against us?”
And the answer is simple — no one.
God did not spare His own Son but freely gave Him for us all. So why would He withhold anything else? Everything we need has already been made available.
When the old saints sang “This joy that I have, the world didn’t give it, and the world can’t take it away,” I understand now what they meant. Because if God is for me, who can be against me?
Nothing Shall Separate Us
Paul goes on to say:
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Nothing — not death, not life, not angels, not powers, not anything present or to come — can separate us from the love of God.
And here’s the revelation that’s been stirring in me: It's not even that you know God — it’s that He knows you.
It’s not about how much you love God — it’s about how much He loves you.
That means nothing ever did separate us from Him. We’ve always been in His presence.
Where Did “Separation” Come From?
As I began to study, I asked, Where did this theology of separation come from?
Because we’ve all heard it — that God turned His back on humanity because of sin. That we have to “get right” before we can come to Him.
But that’s not what the Bible actually says.
Let’s go back to Genesis 3. When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid from God — they separated themselves. But God didn’t hide. In fact, He called out, “Adam, where are you?”
Now, God is everywhere. He knew where Adam was. He wasn’t asking because He lost him — He was asking because Adam had lost himself.
So who told you that you were naked? Who told you that you were unworthy? Who told you that you had to get right before you could come to God?
It wasn’t God.
God Never Left
From Genesis to Revelation, God has been showing us the same truth — He never left us.
Isaiah 49:15 says:
“Can a woman forget her nursing child? Surely she may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.”
And Psalm 139 reminds us:
“Where can I go from Your Spirit? If I ascend into heaven, You are there. If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.”
Where can you go that He isn’t already present? No where. Even in the fire, He is there — just like the fourth man in the furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
He’s there in the church and in the crack house. He's there in the boardroom and the bedroom. He’s there when you’re praising, and He’s there when you’re crying.
You cannot run from God. So stop running from Him — and start running to Him.
Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
David said it best:
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)
Every one of us was created with purpose, worth, and beauty. You are not an accident. You are not a mistake. You are a masterpiece.
And just like a good parent leaves the fridge open for their kids, God says, “The house is open — what do you need?” You don’t have to beg for what’s already yours.
You Are the Dwelling Place
When Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions,” He wasn’t talking about some faraway place. You are the mansion. You are the temple. You are the dwelling place of God.
We’re not waiting to get to heaven — we’re walking in it right now. Every day. Every step.
Heaven is God’s presence — and His presence is in you.
Wake Up and Live
Ephesians says, “Wake up, O sleeper.”
Being born again is really about becoming conscious — waking up to the truth that Christ lives in you.
So redeem your time. Walk in wisdom. Take the next step. Be grateful. Keep learning. Keep living.
Because through it all — joy or pain, gain or loss — God has never separated Himself from you.
Final Word
No thing — no doubt, no death, no sickness, no mistake — shall separate us from the love of God.
Love is God. And God is love.
So wherever you are, whatever you’ve done, however you feel — know this:
You have always been loved. You have always been seen. You have always been His.
Prayer: Father, thank You that we have never been out of Your presence. Thank You for opening our eyes and awakening our hearts to Your truth. Help us walk in the fullness of Your love, unafraid and unashamed, knowing that we were never separated from You — not for a moment. Amen.
